Movies Watched In 2012:Titanic 3D
Titanic has been a HUGE part of my life for as long as I can remember. My mother believes strongly in reincarnation, and she believes just as strongly that in my past life, I died aboard Titanic. I have been what can only be described as obsessed with the disaster since I was a small child, it has always been a huge fascination of mine. I just can’t wrap my mind around how it could have easily been avoided, and the simple steps that they could have taken to save all of those lives. I tell everyone I know random facts all the time, like, “Did you know that if they had hit the iceberg head on, the boat would have survived it?” I don’t think most people care, but I do! haha
In 1997, when James Cameron’s Titanic was originally released, I was so excited, I could barely stand it. The first time I saw it, was on a class trip in grade eight, and it honestly blew my mind. My best friend and I went to see it another thirteen times after that, and the day it was released on VHS (shh, yes I said VHS. Personal home theatre dvd players didn’t really hit the market until a year or two later), I ran out and bought it. I’ve probably seen the movie a hundred times, but when I heard that they were re-releasing it in theatres, I just about died of excitement.
Everyone keeps telling me that they want to go with me, but I honestly couldn’t wait anymore. I decided to go yesterday by myself and I seriously had butterflies I was so excited.
I didn’t think it would be that emotional, but the film started and I had tears slipping down my cheeks. That first opening sequence, the sepia toned footage of the ship and people waving goodbye, it brought back SO many memories of sitting in that theatre with Katie way back when, our whole lives ahead of us. We didn’t know what the future held, but we knew that for the next three hours and twenty minutes, we would sit there together, holding hands in a mixture of fangirling and tears. You always say that you’re going to stay best friends with your best friend forever, but when you’re fourteen, that seems super possible and with time, you grow apart from those people. Fortunately, Katie and I are one of the few exceptions. Not only did we stay best friends, but we grew even closer, and we were able to be a part of each other’s wedding, her son calls me auntie (well, “Issy”, because he can’t say Lynzee yet), and I know in my heart that we’ll never ever grow apart. So the film Titanic really holds a lot of emotions for me, and part of me is glad that I saw the re-release for the first time alone, because I was honestly crying at the most random parts.
The film is STUNNING in 3D. I don’t love 3D usually, but I do love what they’ve been doing with the technology as of late (ie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2), adding depth to scenes, making it look even more rich, it really is beautiful. The part where Rose runs by Jack on deck to jump, right near the beginning, Jack is laying on a bench looking at the stars, and I felt like I was looking up at a real nights sky.
This is a long, rambling post, that probably only has meaning to me, but I really had to write this down, I’ve been thinking about it since yesterday.

Movies Watched In 2012:The Hunger Games
I have been waiting for this movie for what seems like forever, and the day it came out, I had physical excitement. I went to see it with a group of sixteen friends, and had the time of my life! We all met for dinner first, and the whole time, I was just dying to get to the theatre. I really had no idea what to expect, I didn’t know how the movie was going to look or feel and when it started, I went, “OH!” I was so very pleasantly surprised with EVERYTHING. I don’t want to post too much, because it hasn’t been out very long, and maybe some of my followers haven’t seen it, BUT. I. LOVED. IT. I’ve already seen it twice, and I’m going back to see it on Friday. :-X NO REGRETS, JUST PEETA.

Movies Watched In 2012:The Human Centipede (via Netflix)
First of all, let me just say… LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
My dad and I were flipping through Netflix last night, and saw that the sequel was added. Our thought process was, “Well we can’t watch the sequel without seeing the first one!” Honestly, it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It was fucking ridiculous and we laughed the whole time. We both love B-horror movies as I’ve said, and this hit all of those spots for sure.
One part made me gag, and caused my dad to fall into the fetal position on the couch, but it was unexpected and I can promise it isn’t anything any of you are thinking right now.
I feel like this film (and the two sequels), are like film versions of 2Girls1Cup. You know what you’re getting yourself into, but you still hit play.

Movies Watched In 2012:Hugo (via Blu-Ray)  Hugo was another one I really wanted to see in the theatres, and I wanted to see it before the Academy Awards. Unfortunately that didn’t happen, but the at home experience was still wonderful.
If I’m being honest, a big draw to this for me was Sacha Baron Cohen and my epic, ridiculous crush on him. I also j’adore Chloe Moretz, and the look of the film really caught my eye. None of that was a disappointment, but I really REALLY disliked Asa Butterfield. I didn’t like him The Boy In The Striped Pajamas and I thought maybe it was just his character, but it was this as well. I guess I just don’t enjoy him as an actor. (also, he’s creepy looking, soooo…) other than that though, this was a wonderful film! I’d watch it again for sure. It was GORGEOUS to look at, that’s for sure.

Movies Watched In 2012:Passchendaele (via DVD) I’ve wanted to see this fucking movie since it was in theatres. I finally got the chance and loved it SO HARD. I have a huge boner for any sort of war epic, or story and it’s Canadian! It was visually a wonderful movie, and it had a solid plot to back that up. I really loved it. I recommend this to anyone who wants a little story with rich history.

Movies Watched In 2012:The Vow
Let me preface this by saying that I don’t do girly movies. I don’t enjoy romcoms, I didn’t like The Notebook, I hate PS I Love You, I have no desire to watch Dear John, but my best friend wanted to see this and I had a free movie pass. I also didn’t understand everyone’s obsession with Channing Tatum until I saw him in this (I think it’s because his character is so heartbreaking and he doesn’t have a shaved head).I didn’t know that this was based on real events, and at the end they actually showed the real couple and told you a bit about what they went through. This movie… was adorable. Channing Tatum’s character is just, he makes you feel SO MANY FEELS the whole time. My best friend was a fucking mess, crying the whole time. I really enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW. I KNOW that this movie raped history, and I KNOW that it’s bullshit, but I think if you just take it with a grain of salt, this is a really good movie. Look at it like fiction, not something attempting to be true. The costumes and sets are INCREDIBLE, and Xavier Samuel is DELICIOUS in it.

Movies Watched In 2012:Real Steel (via DVD)
So I sort of had a tiny desire to see this, but it was never enough to draw me to the theatre and spend $11.50. I thought it’d be a good rental movie, and when it became available at my library, I decided to grab it.WAY better than I expected. The plot is cute, and obviously based on Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, but on a much larger scale. I think that this captures the whole ‘vintage game to movie’ thing better than Transformers (please don’t get me started on that travesty) and from the looks of it, Battleship. The CGI was obviously very present, but it didn’t take over, and you still felt something watching it. Hugh Jackman was awesome, but I’m biased because I do love him. I feel like RDJ would have done really well with this role. The kid was so badass, loved that little bugger.
I almost wish now that I HAD made the trip to the theatre for this one.

Movies Watched In 2012:ChronicleThe ads for Chronicle are so vague, and it totally worked on me. I was intrigued by the trailer, and when I got a free movie ticket (WOO WOO FROM A CEREAL BOX), I thought I’d use it to give this movie a shot.
HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT.
It was so good, guys. The concept is fucking awesome, I loved the look of it, I loved the story, I loved the characters. I loved everything. The way it was told was cool, the pacing was great and like I said, the story is just really really cool. If you’re unsure of whether or not you want to give this a shot, I recommend doing so wholeheartedly.  I liked it A LOT more than I thought I would. Also, I think that the dude who plays Andrew looks so much like a young Leo DiCaprio.

Movies Watched In 2012:The Woman In Black
So, I went twenty seven years thinking that I was too scared to watch horror movies, and avoided even commercials for them at all costs. My dad is an avid horror movie fan, and he was watching something while I was in the room. I was trying to avoid it, but I ended up paying attention, and came to an epic realization. I’m not afraid of horror movies after all. I tested the waters with other films, and while other people (my dad included) would jump or look away, I failed to even register it as anything other than creepy.
With my new found love of horror movies intact, I was beyond psyched when I started seeing trailers for The Woman In Black. A) it looked creepy as shit and B) I fucking love Daniel Radcliffe. My dad, my friend Derek and myself all went the day after it opened, and while it failed to scare me, I loved the shit out of this movie. I loved it so much, that I ended up going to see it again when friends of mine wanted to go. I can see how the sudden noises and movements would scare people, and visually, it is a stunning film. Daniel’s acting as improved SO greatly from the Harry Potter franchise, I found him to have discovered his subtlety in this film, and I think that he did an excellent job. (He also excelled in being handsome, but I think that may be genetics) The story is great, albeit a remake, but I think that the screenwriters did a wonderful job. The creep factor is great, and the fact that a lot of the film could stand on zero dialogue and just Daniel with a candle walking through a house, that speaks volumes to me.
PS, I chose this poster over the one of the two children, or one of Daniel because this is hands down my favourite poster from the promotion of this movie.

This another “suck my dick, I like it” movie. I was stoked when Ryan Renyolds was cast as Hal Jordan, even though tons of people had their doubts. I thought he’d be fantastic, and he didn’t disappoint me. Also, Mark Strong as Sinestro? FUCK. YES. The only thing I hated about it, and I hated it so hard, was Blake Lively as Carol Ferris. So fucking useless, I think she ruined the character. Other than that, I loved this film. Peter Sargaard was fucking fantastic as Hector.

Captain America may be my favourite solo Avengers movie. Batman has always been my favourite hero, and he’s slowly having to move over on his pedestal for room for Cap. One thing I’ve always loved about Batman is that he’s avenging his parents, but Steve is avenging an entire lost generation. I also love that he never gave up, he never backed down from a fight, and he didn’t wait until he was buff to try and and make a difference. Also: STANLEY TUCCI

Santa brought me Thor for on Blu-Ray Christmas and I’ve watched it multiple times already. I love this so hard. It’s funny, because until last year, I thought I hated Marvel, and I really don’t. I don’t love Spiderman, and I think I let that overshadow the rest of the comics. So yes, I jumped on the bandwagon when the Avengers movies started coming out, but whatever. Don’t like it, suck my dick. Also, I love Loki more than is probably healthy. If you don’t know the story, like I didn’t, you go in thinking that you’ll sympathize with Thor, but the whole time, I was like, “OH LOKI YOU LITTLE WOOBIE!”

I had never seen this movie before meeting AJ, and now it’s one of my favourites. Pretty much every time Westley says “As you wish”, I swoon like a Victorian lady. I absolutely adore Mandy Patinkin in anything, but I really love him in this. I also love Westley’s dedication to get back to his Buttercup. ♥

I love the comics as well, and I really wish that Kick-Ass 2 would happen.
